Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Words/Topics that will make me pick up/buy a book!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They love to share lists.

Top Ten Words/Topics that will make me pick up/buy a book!

1) Mythology
I loved learning about mythology in school so I will read anything mythology no matter what it is. My favorite would have to be Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythology.

2) Superpowers/Superheroes
Any story where people have some sort of power that is unique and totally cool I will have to read.
3) Witches/Wizards
HP, anything that has to do with magic, I just love. I will have to read it but it has to be unique.

4) Paranormal (Vampires/Werewolves, etc...)
Not Twilight, anything that has a unique premise that deals with the paranormal.

5) Murder Mystery
Any book where you need to guess who done it. Especially Agatha Christie like.

6) Humor
Anything Chelsea Handler, Kathy Griffin, etc... that will just make me laugh out loud I have to buy.

7) Dystopian
Ever since I learned about dystopian and what it was about, I just needed to read book like it. For example, Huger Games and Divergent.

8) Fairy Tales
Anything doing with fairytales or some sort of retelling, especially with a unique premise like Cinder, I will totally want to read and buy.

9) Kick Ass
I will read any book where the character has to overcome something and be totally kick ass.

10) Sci-fi and Fantasy
This one covers a lot. I love any type of fantasy or sci-fi with certain aspects like space, other world settings, different rules, possibly magic, has a map of the land, dragons, high fantasy etc... I could go on and on with this topic, Some examples would be Across the Universe, Eragon, and Game of Thrones

Waiting on Wednesday: Tandem by Anna Jarzab

For those of you who don't know "Waiting On" Wednesday is an event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. The purpose is to let others know which book you are anticipating and can't wait till it comes out to read it.

Tandem (Many-Worlds, #1)
Tandem by Anna Jarzab
Hardcover, 448 pages
Expected publication: October 8th 2013 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers

add to goodreads

Synopsis:

Everything repeats.
You. Your best friend. Every person you know.
Many worlds. Many lives--infinite possibilities.
Welcome to the multiverse.

Sixteen-year-old Sasha Lawson has only ever known one small, ordinary life. When she was young, she loved her grandfather's stories of parallel worlds inhabited by girls who looked like her but led totally different lives. Sasha never believed such worlds were real--until now, when she finds herself thrust into one against her will.

To prevent imminent war, Sasha must slip into the life of an alternate version of herself, a princess who has vanished on the eve of her arranged marriage. If Sasha succeeds in fooling everyone, she will be returned home; if she fails, she'll be trapped in another girl's life forever. As time runs out, Sasha finds herself torn between two worlds, two lives, and two young men vying for her love--one who knows her secret, and one who thinks she's someone she's not.

The first book in the Many-Worlds Trilogy, Tandem is a riveting saga of love and betrayal set in parallel universes in which nothing--and no one--is what it seems.

Why I am Waiting:
The premise sounds totally awesome. I have always loved the concept that there could possible be parallel universes. I really can't wait till this one comes out so I can read it. And of course it is going to be a very long wait. =]

Follow Friday(36)

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Follow Friday is a weekly blog hop event hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This week's Question is:

Q: If you could hang out with any author (living) who would it be and what would you want to do?

This is such a great question. There are about a million authors I would like to hang out with. There was one though that I thought would be perfect to hang out with. The author I would want to hang out with most would have to be Beth Revis, author of the Across the Universe Series.

This is me.

I just think she is such a cool person and an amazing author. I would love just to go have lunch or dinner to pick her brain about her series and anything else she is interested in. I love her blog and reading about all the cool stuff she gets to do. It would be amazing to get to hang out with her and her great personality.

Let me know in the comments what author you would like to hang out with.

P.S.

Review: Stolen Nights by Rebecca Maizel

Stolen Nights (Vampire Queen, #2)

Stolen Nights by Rebecca Maizel
Paperback, 320 pages
Published January 29th 2013 by St. Martin's Griffin
***Received this Book from the Publisher for a fair and honest review.
(Thank You St. Martin's Griffin for the Book.)

Synopsis:

A new year is beginning at Wickham Boarding School. A new chance at life, at reversing the evil in my past. But nothing is ever as simple it seems...Last year, the love of my life died performing a ritual to fulfill my one wish and make me human. And now I’ve performed the same ritual for my friend Vicken – and survived. Why am I here, back safe on Wickham campus?

The strong magic I used in the ritual did more than just make Vicken human. It drew someone to Lover’s Bay who does not belong here. She wants the ritual. Then she wants me dead. And she will take down any and everyone in my life to get what she wants.

As if that weren’t enough, the ritual has also summoned the anger of the Aeris, the four elements and most fundamental powers on earth. They have a surprise and an unbearable punishment for me – like stepping into the sun for the first time, only to be put into a cage. And now I have to make an impossible choice – between love or life, yearning or having, present or past…
My Thoughts/Review:

This sequel of the Vampire Queen series was ten times better than the first book. I enjoyed this book completely and I liked it more than Infinite Days. Rebecca Maizel has really improved her writing and her style. The story has a much better plot and keeps the reader interested throughout. Lenah is still at Wickam Boarding School and she has to fight a whole new foe in a vampire that has come to try and get the ritual from her. This enemy vampire is causing destruction and fatalities all around the school and it is up to Lenah to stop it.

This sequel had such better writing and plot flow then the first book. I actually enjoyed reading it more and was immersed in the characters and what they had to accomplish. I loved all of the surprises and twists in this one. Stolen Nights wasn't as straight forward as Infinite Days, it had some curve balls in the plot, which I really liked this time around. I could guess and foresee what happened in Infinite Days while in Stolen Nights I had no idea what was going to happen or where it would go.

In this sequel, you get to delve into Lenah's character more and see what she is all about and how she was as a vampire and how she is different now. I loved the Aeris and how they represented time and all the four elements. I also really loved Lenah's struggle throughout the whole book of her difficulty to fight back and actually do it on her own.

I really loved the ending and how some things were a real shocker to me. A few things I could take a guess at and was accurate about but it didn't affect how I felt about the story. I loved how the ending completely shows Lenah's self sacrifice and sets it up so it could just end the series perfectly. But then there is an epilogue that can totally set up the series for a third book. I am really hoping that a third book will happen because that will just intrigue me even more into this series. I really like that Lenah is happy at the end but I really want to know what is happening at Wickam with everyone else.

Overall, I really loved the two books in this series. If you are a fan of paranormal/vampires, sort of contemporary, and romance, you will love this series. It is a series completely worthwhile to delve into. I really hope there will be a third book and it will be one I can't wait to read if it comes out. I definitely say give this series a try because I know a lot of people will love it.

Overall, I give this book:

"Great paranormal series with a Vampire who struggles about becoming a human and facing danger."
4 out of 5 Stars

April TBR and March Rewind

This year I have set the same Goodreads goal as last year, which is 50 books, just in case you were wondering. I plan on smashing my goal this year. So I am making a master tbr list and will change it around every month or so and keep you guys updated here to my progress.
So without further ado here is my TBR list and the links to the books I want to read. The numbered ones are the ones that I am hoping to read this month. My list is full with notes and the dates that some books are coming out so I can prepare to read them in the future. Some of them are interchangeable with each other and I can choose to read whichever one I want. Those that are crossed out are ones that I have read already within the month. If I don't read them all they will carry over into the next month. =]

January

Notes:
(Falling for You by Lisa Schroeder comes out Jan. 1st, Make Plans to Buy/Read)
(Possibly reread The Host, movie comes out in theaters March 29th)
(The Mortal Instruments comes out in theaters August 23rd)

There is my list this month. I hope you guys cheer me on and keep me on track with my goal. I am really hoping to smash my goal this year. Link me up to your April TBR lists if you have posted one. I am really interested to know what others are wanting to read. I am hoping to continue to read a ton of books each month, so keep cheering me on to reach my goal. =]

Unfortunately in March I got very busy and did read as much as I wanted to. I need to stop slacking and kick myself back into gear to get my reading done. I apologize if I haven't reviewed your book yet I am trying to catch up this month. I am trying. =]

Game of Thrones Videos That You Must Watch

Sorry!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to quickly say that I am sorry I haven't been as active as I could be.

I have been very stressed at work and at school, especially with Easter this past weekend.

It might be like this for the next couple weeks.

I am still reading but haven't finished anything for the month of March.

I will post soon my April TBR list.

I haven't finished anything cause I am reading A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Marin along with the 3rd season of Game of Thrones and I just started another book, Stolen Nights by Rebecca Maizel.

(P.S. I am so excited for season 3 of Game of Thrones. =] )

As soon as I finish I will have more reviews up.

It just takes me so long to read massive books. I wish I was a faster reader.

Once again, I apologize for the slowness, hopefully when spring gets here. I will pick up the pace again.

Thanks for sticking in there with me.

Happy Reading!!!
